Privacy Policy

Effective date: 16 July 2026 · App: Rafiq al-Ilm (com.zaytuna.rafiqalilm)
Data controller: Zaytuna Business Services Ltd, United Kingdom · Contact: admin@zaytunauk.co.uk

Rafiq al-Ilm is an Islamic learning and quiz app. We collect as little as possible.

What we collect

Account. The app works without registration. On first use we create an anonymous account identifier (a random ID via Supabase Auth) so your progress can sync. No name, email or phone number is required. You may optionally link an email address to sign in on this website.

Learning data. Your XP, streaks, hearts, level progress, bookmarks, review queue, coupon redemptions, subscription entitlement and any content reports you submit, linked to your account ID. Stored with Supabase (hosted on AWS in the EU) and cached on your device.

Purchases. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details; we receive only a purchase token, the product purchased and its validity, to unlock Pro.

Analytics & crash reports. We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics in the app, and Google Analytics on this website (only after you accept the consent banner), to understand feature usage and fix crashes. This involves device information (model, OS version, app version, coarse locale) and event data. See Google's privacy documentation for details.

Advertising. The app's free tier shows ads via Google AdMob. In the UK/EEA you are first asked for consent through Google's consent framework; you can decline personalised ads. AdMob may process device identifiers (such as the advertising ID) per Google's ad policies. Pro subscribers see no ads. This website shows no ads.

What we do NOT do

We do not sell your data. We do not show ads on screens displaying Qur'an or hadith text. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; the app is intended for users 13+. We do not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone or files.

Legal bases (UK GDPR)

Consent (personalised ads, analytics where required); performance of a contract (sync, Pro entitlements); legitimate interests (crash diagnostics, abuse prevention such as one-trial-per-account).

Retention & deletion

Learning data is kept while the account exists. To delete your data, contact us at admin@zaytunauk.co.uk and we will erase the account and associated rows. Local data can be removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling.

Third-party processors

Supabase (database & authentication) · Google Play (payments) · Google AdMob (advertising) · Google Firebase / Google Analytics (analytics & crash reporting).

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy at this URL and update the effective date.
